STHS Behavioral Chemical Dependency Unit
A Team Committed to Your Recovery
The specialized team within this 10-bed inpatient treatment program is composed of individuals who are passionate about recovery and uniquely focused on providing quality care and personalized treatment to help patients who have a substance use disorder and those with co-occurring disorders.
Many people who struggle with a substance use disorder also cope with a mental health disorder. These are known as co-occurring disorders or dual diagnosis. Generally, it is most beneficial to treat co-occurring disorders together rather than separately.
Treatment within the Chemical Dependency Unit – staffed with a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) – is personalized to address the individual’s specific disorders, symptoms and misused substances.
For individuals who have stopped abusing alcohol, benzodiazepines and opioids, the withdrawal symptoms can be severe and, in some cases, life-threatening. We offer an inpatient detox program with 24-hour nursing care under the supervision of a licensed medical doctor. With the use of appropriate medications and close monitoring, we can minimize the unpleasant effects of withdrawal and support patients through the detox process, helping them transition to sobriety.
In addition to programming tailored to help treat chemical dependency, patients also engage in activity therapy and psychoeducational programming designed to help with skills needed to help sustain their recovery after discharge, including money management, community resources and related topics.
